Emergency help to the affected population by the earthquake in Yauyos and Cañete Provinces, Peru. ECHO – 2007 Earthquake - Yauyos and Cañete Provinces (2007-2008)

The beneficiaries of this project were people living in remote rural areas in the provinces of Yauyos and Cañete, Department of Lima, affected by the earthquake of August 15, 2007. The earthquake caused the destruction of houses, and severely damaged the systems of drinking water supply and irrigation. This population was devoted to subsistence farming, cultivating potatoes, corn, beans and vegetables, but some were cattle farmers, particularly sheep and goats. The actions sought to reduce the impact of the earthquake by ensuring access to drinking water, irrigation and quality shelter.
