The project "Local low cost Initiatives for the Sustainable Production of Creole Birds" is in full swing. The first 1.000 direct beneficiaries are already participating in the so-called "Escolas de Campo" (broadly translated into "Farmer Schools") where they share knowledge and learn low-cost techniques for management and production of Creole Birds.

These workshops have gone very well, which can be observed through the enthusiasm of participants (mostly women) who has realized the importance of ensuring and enhancing food security of their families. We have also identified 3.000 other beneficiaries that will receive the same training in the town of Pase de Cadena.

In July, the project received María Dolores Monge, Coordinator of the European Union (the main funder of the project), that wanted to know the area of intervention and some beneficiaries. The busy schedule included visits to the municipalities of El Cuá, La Concordia and Jinotega, a dialogue with some beneficiaries, and participation in one "Escola de Campo".
